Transition year—but work as usual!

The planned first-year intake, to launch the new accredited four-year eurythmy training (awarding level 5, BA equivalent, through EdExcel), will now begin in Stourbridge 2011, not, as previously announced, in Stroud. PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE.  There were insufficient firm applications by our deadline date this summer to start this autumn 2010.

For 2010-11, the fourth-year students will finish in our campus in Stourbridge. Saraphir, our second-year student, has opted to continue for this year, also in Stourbridge. Maren offers an intense course for serious enquirers.

Maren also plans more outreach this year with her programme ‘Water Islands’ with Geoffrey Norris (speaker/actor) and Alan Stott (piano). This programme celebrating English poetry, mainly from the C20th, with music by Debussy, is arranged as a conversation between speech, music and eurythmy. We accompany a search for the source of inspiration in the WORD itself`; for the gesture, music and tone-colour in poetry.

Let us hope that this kind of fluid and highly imaginative concept – banishing the endless “ons-and-offs” with long pauses – will gain more and more friends. The creating of an organically evolving tapestry of sound, colour and movement must surely have a secure future” (from the review by Christopher Cooper of the premiere, Dornach, 4th August).
